Saikaew Beach Resort, Koh Samet, Saikaew Beach
Good location, but the deluxe cottages are too far from the beach. The beach front room was quite small but comfortable. It needed some fresh paint and trimming of the plants in front which blocked the beach view. The breakfast was excellent as was the service at the Rimtalay restaurant.
Excellent! I will definitely use again.

Saikaew Beach Resort, Koh Samet, Saikaew Beach
Stayed in a beachfront room and was impressed. Staff were incredibly friendly. The room was simple but clean, with one of the nicer bathrooms I ve seen on Ko Samet s Saikaew beach. Saikaew beach is the place to stay if you want a fun nightlife -- the whole beach is lit up with lanterns and the atmosphere is fantastic.

Ao Prao Resort, Koh Samet, Ao Prao
I love this place, even in the rainy season, which it definitely was. We got a fantastic rate because it s the off-season and the hotel s pool was closed for construction (who cares when you ve got the whole ocean to swim in?) The only downer was that there was noticeably more trash on beach after the tides. We saw none of this two years ago (though the sea was perfectly calm then). I really love the little island and I hate to see become polluted.
Great service.

Malibu Garden Resort, Koh Samet, Vongduen Beach
DO NOT STAY HERE! I stupidly ignored all the other comments left by other people, I wish I hadn t! In a nutshell the staff are very, very miserable. Unhelpful and generally look cheesed off with it all. I had the deluxe room which was extrememly overpriced at 2600 baht per night. The place is dirty and the breakfast even though it goes on until 10.30, everything had run out at 9.50am and they didn t seem keen to put anymore food out. Try the Silver Sands resort futher up the beach. Great reviews from there.

Baan Pae Cabana, Rayong, Ban Pae
A nice resort, room is cosy. Staff reacted to request promptly and were helpful. It is a good experience living in a bunglaro rather than in a traditional hotel. It gives a different feel.

Bari Lamai Resort, Rayong, Laem Mae Pim
Hotel is beautiful boutique hotel with nice staff, but they have a big insect problem all over. Pool is really nice infinity pool and prices in restaurant reasonable. Great place for hideout but bugs should go first.
Quick as always

Mooban Talay Resort, Koh Samet, Ao Noi Na
Although a nice resort, it is not worth the money spent. It is a nice quiet area, but the 4 to 5K baht that they charge is just too expensive. The resort itself closes at 10pm (didn t mention this when we dropped off our keys, so came home at 10.30 to a closed reception without our room keys...), there are no tv s in the rooms, no bathtub, just the private outdoor shower (not always convenient when it rains) and generally there is just not much to do at or around the resort. The food at the restaurant, although not bad, is too expensive for what you get, and better food can be had much cheaper at other parts of the island. Has to be said that the service of the staff is generally good and friendly. The resort is far away from the main bar/restaurant area at Had Sai Kiew/Ao Phai, and with a taxi between 200 and 300 baht 1 way, it s inconveniently located if you don t want to spend the whole day at the resort and not spend a big chunk of your budget on taxi fares. All in all just not worth the expenses. Would consider going again if they would lower their prices with 2/3rd.
Booking with Sawadee.com was quick and efficient as always.

Saikaew Beach Resort, Koh Samet, Saikaew Beach
Hotel is really nice for the price that I paid (2450b for beach front) and the construction doesn t bother most of the rooms at all. Beware the Pattaya travel agencies that won t sell the discounted prices. Don t also do the mistake and go to new Lanna Pizzeria, it is not ready yet and pizza looks taken from freezer.
No problems.

Le Vimarn Cottages & Spa, Koh Samet, Ao Prao
We normally stay on the opposite side of Ao Prau beach but we will keep coming back to Le Vimarn. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bedding is so soft!! The pool itself is worth the extra money. Also, the little extras like a DVD player in the room make the price worth it. Also, the beach is much better at this end. The restaurant is quite pricey though but it is not mandatory to eat there.
Great!
